Argyros - Guardian of the Seas

Someone once said Argyros is like the sea and, as its guardian, it might be fair to compare the two. It takes a trained eye to see the subtle movements under the bird's calm surface: despite his instinctive drive to protect the creatures under its wing, his care is hidden under a blanket of indifference. He would rather not pay it much mind, given how fragile smaller beings tend to be, yet he can't bear to see lives thrown away.

This caring nature, almost maternal, would be hard to guess with Lugia's bad temper: most of the time, they'd rather go and take a nap than follow someone else's whim or cooperate, not to mention you'd need to brave the whirlpools to meet them in the first place. Argyros does not try to be on friendly terms, though they aren't hostile either. For that, they would need to feel threatened and they're very confident in their strengh.

And once he gets angry, well... It is a literal as well as a metaphorical tempest. Perhaps he instinctively believe showing the true extent of his power is the best way to get mortal down on their knees, though Argyros knows he's much more destructive than needed when he gets in that mindspace. He feels a strong self-loathing towards that part of his character, though it's also what keeps the seas safe.

Story Event 2

Aurum: They've known each other for the longest time. Argyros holds such a deep grudge towards humanity after seeing how ungrateful they were towards those they "adored". Most of the times, he gets angry seeing Ho-oh pardon them so easily. Sometimes, he just longs for the bird's presence, like the old days...

Suizen: Argyros didn't know Suizen for long, but did recognize his potential, hence they feel somewhat relieved knowing Ho-oh saved him. Still, Argyros wouldn't want to awaken sour memories so he never sought to ask the priest to serve under him once more.

Yorimitsu: A past foe. Argyros is one to hold grudge, once someone trespassed his territory they're better not showing their face ever again. Yorimitsu gets a pass because she's Ho-oh's protegee, as long as she stays out of his lane... Not that Argyros would recognize her nowadays.

Cybèle: It takes some guts to wake him up, Argyros gives her that... Yet, he couldn't care less about what she has to say and found her attempt at lecturing him on his own territory laughable.

Ocean: It's instinct rather than feelings that links the two together: discussions are unnecessary as the bird knows the duties he was assigned and those never went against his own wishes. Argyros sees Kyogre as a figure of authority rather than an individual.

• Argyros always has his Pokémon wings and tail visible, as well as an X shaped mark on his chest.
• His status as 'guardian of the sea" doesn't overlap with Kyogre. You could see Argyros as a warden of Kyogre's creations, much like Ho-oh protects the life Xerneas brought upon the world.
• When the Brass Tower burned down, Lugia tried to extinguish it with Aeroblast: ufortunately, the wind only spread the fire to the nearby houses. The bird is still mortified about that lapse in judgement, centuries after.
