Megumi Satou

Megumi's family lived in Azalea Town for generations and, as such, she holds its tradition very dearly. The woman takes care of Ilex Forest's shrine, cleaning it and making sure to leave some offering, as she sees it everyday on her way to work. She often has one-sided discussion with Celebi: even if the god doesn't respond, Megumi knows they're listening and she likes to share her daily thoughts with someone.

Working in child care was an obvious choice for her, since she was used to taking care of her younger siblings. She babysat for the neighbour as a teen and seeing how thankful both parents and children looked made her choose this field after high school. She does wonder, sometimes, how different her life would have been if she had chosen another path. She doesn't really regret anything but...

Believe it or not but Megumi, when she was younger, had a phase during which she rejected her family's roots. She thought of her village's folklore as "some stupid fairy tales" and yearned for the city life: all of this to say that she always had a stubborn, rebellious side to her, though it wasn't to contradict her caring nature. She was always the "mom friend" in her punk friendgroup, the one to remember bringing healthy snacks and reminding the others to take water breaks: however fondly she looks back on that era, she can agree with those who told her she didn't exactly fit the vibe.

She took a liking to traditional sewing methods through fixing up her friends' clothes: spending so much time with the neighbours gave her a new appreciation for the traditions passed down from generation to generation. Seeing the kid get excited about the mysterious shrine especially made her long for that part of whimsy in her life, which Celebi's existence provided. What she sought in her life was just before her eyes, now that she thinks about it.

Cybèle: She only knows her under the name of "Celebi": folk tales aren't clear on the Mythical's origins or purpose, outside of protecting the forest, but Megumi doesn't really mind. She believes Celebi stands for "celebration", perhaps that of life itself, and that's something she happily prays to.
